World Basketball Manager Description
World Basketball Manager (WBM) is a basketball strategy game. The database covers all basketball action around the world with 95 national and international tournaments, 950 club and national teams, 16.500+ basketball players and 1.100 managers.
Entering the game, the player creates his manager profile and he is hired as the general manager of a basketball club and his task is to improve the team’s performance by analyzing the facts and making the right decisions. He controls the various club departments (financial, medical, training facilities, youth academy), transfers, contracts, training and of course when the match day comes, he will have to select the team lineup, create the most appropriate strategy and find the way to victory by countering the opposing manager’s plans.
As the season progresses, the manager will receive feedback from press, fans, players and administration. The user receives also score that ranks him among the world's managers. And later on, job offers - even national teams!
WBM series started back in 2004 and continues to improve using the fans’ feedback and the experience from previous versions.
The accurate representation of the basketball world forces the players to make the same decisions and face the same problems as their real life counterparts. It deals not only with the sport aspect of the game, but also with financial, managerial, administrative, training, psychological and PR situations that arise in the everyday life of a basketball manager.
WBM features an incredibly well-balanced, real-time match algorithm, with realistic results and challenging A.I. , All the player and manager attributes are calculated during the match. And there are also special considerations including match’s crucial moments, clutch players, match importance, player temperaments, traditional enemy teams and much more.
The managers control lineups, offensive and defensive tactics, play speed, special orders like going for offensive rebound after score attempts, or going for intentional fouls in an effort to stop the clock). During time-outs, there are options for special offensive planning and morale boosting.
The match action features live commentary and ambient sound that responds to crowd attendance, crowd temperament, match importance, as well as the events in the course of the game which creates a perfectly realistic match atmosphere.
Loads of live data are displayed through the stadium scoreboard and the manager’s notes in full detail.
Undoubtedly the biggest success of WBM is the opponent manager A.I. as the game uses a genetic algorithm in order to present the best challenge possible to the user.
All of the above make WBM a game easy and fun to play but difficult to master.
Another huge plus of the game is the big network of researchers that help in data and tournament updates. Also 2 versions of the data editor are available to users in order to edit all game data themselves and they can even contribute in the game as data researchers for their local league.
WBM is available in 12 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Greek, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Spanish and Turkish.
